Truth Lies and the Internet

Our signature dish! This workshop is our introduction to the fact that things may not be always what they seem online. We start to define and raise awareness with participants as to some of the threats propaganda, disinformation and misinformation have to us in our social networks and on the websites we use. Using Digital Disruption teaching resources we give participants a vocabulary and techniques to deconstruct propaganda and then whilst drawing from content YP are commonly influenced by we get participants to apply these techniques

For: 12 - 16yr olds

Participants will:

  • Understand the differences propaganda, misinformation and disinformation
  • Learn examples of propaganda, misinformation and disinformation and how normalised examples can be in our everyday lives.

  • Apply techniques of propaganda to popular influential content
  • Participants made self-aware about the trust they are places into people and places online
